Most Popular Mobile Cranes

A crane is a lifting machine that is heavily used in many industry sectors like: construction, forestry, mining, cargo, transportation etc. This machine works by a system consisted of chains, pulleys and cables. The cranes are valuable assets in the construction industry because without them the operations of lifting heavy items and materials would seem impossible. There are different kinds of cranes on the market, from small portable crane models to much larger tower cranes. Every model has its own specifications and it is used for particular lifting task.
Today the construction industry requires fast, convenient and mobile machines that are capable to complete the job in the most efficient way. The mobile cranes are lifting machines that have the capability to do just that. These cranes have been widely used all over Australia because they are fast, convenient, efficient and offer more on the construction sites. There are several mobile cranes on the market, and the most commonly used are: all terrain cranes, crawler cranes and the rough terrain cranes.

All Terrain Crane. All terrain crane is a special lifting machine that is fully equipped for performing different types of lifting operations on every type of terrain. The all terrain crane is described as multi- functional machine capable to move on both smooth paved surfaces and tough terrains. A typical all terrain crane has one or two engines, and comes with hydraulic winches and one telescopic boom. One big advantage of the all terrain cranes is their ability to travel at full speed on public and other major roads by using crab and all wheel steering. The all terrain cranes combine the travel capabilities of the truck mounted cranes and the maneuverability of the rough terrain cranes. Generally, the all terrain cranes are designed with 2-9 axles and can lift loads up to 1200 tons. For more stability when lifting heavy loads, the all terrain crane uses outriggers.

Crawler Crane. This is a crane mounted on a set of tracks for increased stability and mobility on the construction site. These cranes have their own advantages and disadvantages. Their main advantage is the ability to move around the job site and to perform various lifting tasks with ease. This crane model don't uses outriggers for stability because it is mounted on tracks. The main disadvantage of the crawler cranes is their size and the fact that cannot be easily moved from one location to another. A larger crawler crane needs to be dismantled and transported by trucks. The crawler cranes usually have lifting capacity from 30- 3000 tones.

Rough Terrain Crane. A rough terrain crane is a lifting machine mounted on a undercarriage with four rubber wheels. This crane model is specially designed for off road pick and carry operations and all other rough terrain applications. Generally, the rough terrain cranes are one engine machines with one telescopic boom. These machines are usually transported to the construction site by trucks. Their lifting capacity is similar to the crawler cranes, from 30-3000 tones.
